the field of industrial property rights. While working as a freelance
attorney for various patent law firms in Munich Mr. Hards focussed on
the prosecution and defence of patents and trademarks, before finally
co-founding the company Hards & Franke.
Andrew Hards specialises in the following areas of expertise:

opposition proceedings before the EPO Boards of Appeal

Dr. Hards can also claim

macromolecular/polymer chemistry
- dyes and synthetic organic
chemistry

Andrew Hards studied chemistry
and
polymer chemistry at the LMU University in Munich.
Following
his PhD, he started his legal training at a patent law company with a
focus on chemical and polymer inventions and proceeded with the courses
and exams at the German Patent Court to become a patent lawyer.
During his scientific career,
Dr.
Hards was fortunate to establish connections to Asia and North America,
especially to Japan, where he completed his diploma thesis. He
is
interested in languages and international cultures. Andrew Hards is
bilingual in English and German, speaks French at an advanced level and
has developed a solid understanding of the Japanese language through
many years of evening classes and his experience living in Japan.
